"I paint to uncover my subconscious; I paint to dream. My goal is to work the way I did when I was a child—to express exactly what my imagination dictates—unhindered by the burdens of self-consciousness and self-doubt.
To achieve this I cover the canvas with a layer of vivid patterns, choosing colors and placement at random. And from the swirling, amorphous clouds of paint I allow my mind to form shapes and figures. “Cloud-watching”, I disregard convention and struggle to paint only what I imagine.
As untarnished as possible by my thinking mind, my pieces are ironically often stained and well-worn; fantasy with a history. Unconstrained by the rules and technicalities of other mediums, acrylic paint frees me to work instinctively. What results is both beautiful and monstrous, often exploring themes of passion, mortality, illness, memory and loss."
